Ukraine builds additional fortifications on northern border with Belarus

Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region has begun building additional fortifications on the border with Belarus: the development of the region's defense system has been underway since 2022

The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, reported the information.

"We are currently building additional fortifications to protect our border. Despite the changeable weather, builders do not stop digging ditches and communication passages and installing concrete structures to protect the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the statement said.

The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration has reported the construction of long-term firing positions made of reinforced concrete along the border. Additionally, engineering barriers such as anti-tank ditches, minefields, and "dragon's teeth" are being installed. This construction effort is being conducted in close cooperation with the military command.

Bunechko reminded that the development of a deeply-veiled defense system on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border within Zhytomyr region has been underway since 2022.
