Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan meets with Zelenskyy in Kyiv
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, currently on a visit to Kyiv, has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The Turkish Foreign Ministry reported the information on social media platform X.
“Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan was received by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, in Kyiv,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry shared and published photos from the meeting.
During his meeting with Hakan Fidan, Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Turkey and President Erdogan for supporting Ukraine’s efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. He especially thanked them for their assistance in organizing the meeting that led to the release of a thousand Ukrainians from Russian captivity.
“We discussed diplomatic efforts — both ours and those of our partners. Russia continues to ignore all calls from the world to cease fire and continues its killings. Moreover, for over a week now, the Russians have been unable to present the so-called “memorandum” they had promised to prepare immediately after the 1,000-for-1,000 exchange. Ukraine has received no documents from them — nor has Türkiye. For a meeting to be meaningful, its agenda must be clear, and the negotiations must be properly prepared. Unfortunately, Russia is doing everything it can to ensure that the next potential meeting brings no results," Zelenskyy added.
He also expressed gratitude to Turkey for its clear position — consistent and full support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The diplomats also discussed joint work on the implementation of agreements following the first meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish working group on reconstruction. According to the Ukrainian minister, Kyiv is ready to facilitate the participation of Turkish businesses in relevant projects and expects the Turkish delegation to participate in the reconstruction conference to be held in Rome in July.
Before visiting Kyiv, Fidan visited Moscow. Therefore, during his trip to Kyiv, they discussed the upcoming negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which are likely to take place in Istanbul on June 2.
