NBC News reported the information.
In an interview with Meet the Press, Trump said he was actively trying to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
He added that Ukraine could ‘possibly’ expect to receive less military aid from the U.S. when he returns to power.
NBC News also noted that Trump did not commit to keeping the United States in NATO, the European military alliance that has been a bulwark against Russia since World War II.
However, he stressed that he would maintain America's role in NATO if members ‘pay their bills’.
- Earlier, Donald Trump said that Ukraine and its leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, would like to strike a deal with Russia to stop the war, which he called ‘madness’.
- Earlier, President Zelenskyy met with Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron. Zelenskyy called the conversation with his American counterpart ‘good and productive’. During the meeting, the leaders discussed the situation on the battlefield and a just peace for Ukraine. The President noted that ‘we all want to end this war as soon as possible and fairly’.
