Trump comments on more Patriot systems for Ukraine, asks about journalist's husband
During a NATO summit press conference, Trump discussed the possibility of providing more Patriot systems to Ukraine and expressed support for a journalist’s husband in the military
U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the possibility of providing Ukraine with more Patriot air defense systems.
This statement was made by the American leader during a press conference at the NATO summit, which was broadcast by Espreso.
BBC Ukrainian Service correspondent Myroslava Petsa asked Trump if the U.S. was ready to sell Ukraine the Patriot missile defense systems. She also shared with the American leader that her husband serves in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“You want to have Patriot air defense missile systems. We are going to see if we can make some available, they are hard to get. We need them too. We were supplying them to Israel, they are 100% effective. But we will see if we have any available to give to Ukraine. But we see how effective they are, and they do their job well,” Trump noted.
As reported by the media, the U.S. president was reportedly touched by this conversation and asked the journalist to send greetings to her husband.
- In early May, The New York Times reported that two of the eight Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine’s arsenal were undergoing repairs.
