Trump wrote this on Truth Social.
"Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin. Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, “Putin has already won.” What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING," Trump wrote.
He added: "If I got Moscow and Leningrad free, as part of the deal with Russia, the Fake News would say that I made a bad deal!"
"They are sick and dishonest people, who probably hate our Country. But it doesn’t matter because we are winning on everything!!!" the U.S. leader summed up.
- The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will take place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska, likely at a U.S. military base. Beforehand, senior officials from the United States, Ukraine, and European countries are to hold talks to coordinate their positions.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the upcoming meeting between the U.S. leader and the Russian dictator could be important only for bilateral relations between their countries — they cannot decide anything on Ukraine’s behalf.
- On August 13, Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin for a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. They will then join a videoconference with European leaders, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and U.S. President Trump.
- Meanwhile, Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian delegation are working to influence Donald Trump’s stance ahead of his summit with Putin. In the U.S., some note that the American leader’s rhetoric may sound pro-Russian because he is trying to secure a deal.
