‘Trophy’ Ukrainian APC crushes four-year-old at Russian military exhibition
In the Russian city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, at an exhibition of destroyed heavy equipment, the hatch of a "trophy" Ukrainian M113 armored personnel carrier crushed a four-year-old boy
Russian Telegram channels Novaya Gazeta, Astra, and Baza report this.
The reports say that children were climbing on the armored vehicles at the exhibition when one of them was struck by the hatch of an armored personnel carrier that suddenly opened.
According to media reports, the four-year-old boy was diagnosed with an open head injury. An ambulance arrived at the scene but was unable to save the child, who died in the medics’ vehicle.
Local media, citing eyewitnesses, report that the child was standing under the armored vehicle when another child inside pulled the lever, causing the hatch to open and fall on his head. Another version suggests that hydraulic fluid leaked from the vehicle, causing the heavy door to open by itself.
According to media reports, the exhibition of equipment captured in the war in Ukraine opened on April 25 by the decision of the Russian Defense Minister, following an appeal from the local governor. It was dedicated to the "80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War."
The exhibition features, among other things, seven units of heavy equipment that were damaged during battles. The entrance to the event has now been closed, although it was originally scheduled to run until May 3.
