Ukraine must destroy Russia's production capabilities to secure its cities — major

Veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, retired Major Oleksii Hetman spoke about this on Espreso TV.

“We can destroy a large number of Russia’s aerial targets, but there is no air defense system in the world that can destroy every target. To reduce the number of strikes, it’s necessary not only to intercept missiles and drones, but also to destroy the places from which they are launched and the places where they are manufactured and prepared for launch,” Hetman emphasized.

According to the retired Major of the National Guard of Ukraine, to reduce the number of Russian strikes Ukraine needs long-range weapons — the same Tomahawks or other missiles.

“In this way we will be able to reduce the Russians’ ability to attack,” Hetman added.

• On Thursday evening, October 9, the Russian army launched attack drones against Ukraine. The strike targeted the energy infrastructure, leaving parts of Kyiv without power; there are injured, and a child died in hospital in Zaporizhzhia.
