Three children rescued and returned from occupation to Ukraine
Three children – a girl and two boys – have been brought back from the occupied territory to the area under Ukraine's control, ensuring their safety
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, shared this news.
He mentioned that efforts from the "Save Ukraine" organization, guardianship authorities, and child services facilitated the return of an 11-year-old girl who was without adult supervision and at risk of being taken to an orphanage in the occupied zone.
Furthermore, thanks to collaboration with the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, the public union "Ukrainian Network for Children's Rights," and guardianship authorities, two boys aged 9 and 13 were rescued. They were previously under the care of an older brother who faced the risk of being recruited into the Russian army.
Prokudin assured that all children are now safe and receiving support from medical professionals and psychologists.
"Since the start of 2024, a total of 66 children have been brought back from the Kherson region to the Ukrainian-controlled territory. I believe these youngsters will gradually recover from their traumatic experiences. I extend my gratitude to everyone contributing to the return of Ukraine's young citizens," he emphasized.
- On April 25, the Russian commissioner for children's rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, claimed that Russia and Ukraine had engaged in "the first face-to-face negotiations" regarding child exchanges. However, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets refuted this statement.
