Taiwan signs agreement to get UAV software battle-proven in Ukraine
Taiwan has signed a partnership agreement with the American-German company Auterion to supply drone software that has been tested on the front lines in Ukraine
Reuters reported the information.
Taiwan wants to use this to strengthen its defense against military threats from China.
Auterion’s software is used in Ukrainian drones. The company said that because of the deal, millions of Taiwanese drones could use their technology.
Auterion also said it made a strategic partnership with Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense to work on drones.
"What we're bringing to the table has been combat-proven in Ukraine to deter aggression and destroy tanks, naval assets, and other really expensive equipment. So by building a large autonomous fleet, Taiwan can deter China," Auterion's chief executive Lorenz Meier said.
He added that the early partnership is expected to result in the production of millions of drones over several years.
- China has previously called on the U.S. to stop “any military collusion” with Taiwan, adding that U.S. arms supplies to Taipei will not hinder “reunification.”
