Ukraine's top general meets Canadian defence chief Karignan to discuss front-line needs
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, met with the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces, General Jennie Carignan. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the situation on the front line, the security situation in Ukraine, and the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for weapons and military equipment
The Commander-in-Chief shared the update on Telegram.
"We discussed in detail enhancing the capabilities of our air defense and missile defense systems, considering the enemy's missile and aviation strikes on critical infrastructure, key defense-industrial complex sites, and residential areas in Ukraine. This is crucial for achieving an advantage over the enemy and expanding air defense capabilities," stated Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces highly value Canada's contributions to the development of drone systems, air forces, armored vehicles, and information technologies.
He specifically highlighted the success of the Canadian Armed Forces’ UNIFIER military training mission, which has trained nearly 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers over the past ten years.
"I expressed sincere gratitude to General Jennie Carignan, the Canadian government, and the people of Canada for their strong and consistent support of Ukraine in our fight for independence. I also thanked them for the unique military assistance provided to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, including the professional training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots in Canada and language training for aircrew and technical personnel," added Syrskyi.
