Starmer says UK and France will work with Kyiv on peace plan for Washington
After talks with Zelenskyy and Macron, Starmer revealed that the UK, alongside France and potentially other nations, will join Kyiv in efforts to end the war

He shared that this peace plan will be presented to the United States. “I believe we’ve taken a step in the right direction,” Starmer told Laura Kuenssberg on BBC.
Starmer also outlined three key elements for lasting peace:
- A "strong Ukraine" that can continue fighting if necessary and be in a strong position to negotiate.
- A European component with security guarantees.
- A US backstop.
He emphasized that "all three" of these must be in place.
