German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during his visit to the U.S. on June 5, stated that some American lawmakers have no understanding of the scale of Russia's rearmament

Reuters reported the information.
"I met with some senators on Capitol Hill and told them to please look at the rearmament Russia is doing," Merz shared at a business conference in Berlin.
According to him, some U.S. legislators "clearly have no idea what is happening there right now."
The news agency notes that Merz is the last European leader to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, hoping to convince him of the need for Ukraine's support and continued European security assistance through NATO.
- On June 5, Merz and Trump held a meeting at the White House. The Chancellor gave a positive assessment of his first visit to the U.S. president, while Trump agreed to visit Germany.
