Signs indicate Ukraine now launching Flamingo missiles at Russia — general
Ukraine is likely already using its own Flamingo long-range missiles to strike strategic targets within Russian territory. The missiles are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 2,000 km and have a powerful warhead
Ukrainian General Mykola Malomuzh stated this on Espreso TV.
"Currently, Ukraine is striking strategically important Russian facilities - these are oil refineries, and the production of a number of strategic fire assets: missiles, drones, and artillery systems. We are already striking the Russian Federation at distances of 1,000–1,500 kilometers, and in some places - even up to 2,000 km," Malomuzh noted.
According to the general, Ukraine currently has few new drones with a similar flight range. At the same time, the key factor is the power of the warhead. For most drones, it is about 40–50 kg, sometimes up to 150 kg even in ballistic variants. Unlike drones, the warhead of the Flamingo missile is about 1,150 kg, which makes it capable of completely destroying targets and causing significant damage to large objects.
"Therefore, there are initial signs that Ukraine is launching the Flamingo, the Palianytsia missile-drone towards the Russian Federation, and a number of other tactical-level missiles that we are not talking about, but there are already results. Unfortunately, for now, this is a small number," Malomuzh summarized.
What you need to know about the Ukrainian Flamingo missile
The Flamingo's warhead weighs 1,150 kg, and its flight range exceeds 3,000 km. The missile is protected from the influence of Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems, and its maximum speed reaches 950 km/h.
Less than nine months passed from development to combat use. According to Iryna Terekh, CEO and CTO of the manufacturing company Fire Point, the missile is already in serial production, with plans to produce about 200 units per month.
On August 21, 2025, the Associated Press reported that the current pace is one missile per day, but production will increase in the future.
On August 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Flamingo tests were successful, and mass production will start early next year. At the same time, he emphasized that the pace of the program directly depends on its funding.
On August 31, it became known that Ukrainian Flamingo strategic cruise missiles carried out their first public mass volley against targets in territory controlled by the Russian forces.
