Scholz to visit US in February to discuss additional support for Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Washington in the first half of February to meet with US President Joe Biden amid the two leaders' efforts to provide additional support to Ukraine

Bloomberg reports, citing two informed sources.

The sources noted that a bilateral meeting between Scholz and Biden is planned in the White House during the second week of February.

According to the publication, the parties are planning the meeting as the US presidential administration's emergency request for $61 billion is stuck in Congress, as Republicans are demanding significant concessions in immigration policy.

At the same time, the EU is holding a special summit next week to agree on an additional €50 billion package of support for Kyiv.
