Ukraine's Security Service detains collaborator who attempted to poison military command in south
SBU detained an FSB agent who tried to fatally poison commanders of the AFU combat unit in Zaporizhia region. The attacker faces life imprisonment
The SBU press service reported.
The attacker was a serviceman of the Ukrainian army.
"To commit the crime, he planned to add a poisonous substance to the water of the mobile bath and laundry complex used by the command staff of the Armed Forces," the special service said.
The investigation also established that the offender was reconnoitering for the FSB the locations and movements of the Armed Forces units on the front line.
"According to the investigation, the suspect was recruited through his parents, who live in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region. As the investigation established, the invaders kidnapped the man's relatives right from their home and then imprisoned them in a local Russian torture chamber. There, the victims were subjected to brutal torture, demanding that they persuade their son to work for the aggressor country," the SBU said.
It is noted that further communication between the traitor and his Russian curator took place through an anonymous chat in the messenger.
During the search, the detainee's cell phone, which he used to communicate with the Russians, was confiscated.
The man was served a notice of suspicion of high treason and a custodial measure of restraint was imposed on him. He faces life imprisonment.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
