Russia tests S-500 air defense system that allegedly shoots down "hypersonics" — military expert Zgurets

Serhiy Zgurets, the director of Defense Express, dismissed the recent testing of Russia's S-500 air defense system as part of their propaganda tactics

He shared this view on Espreso TV.

"Russia claims successful tests of the S-500 anti-aircraft system, supposedly capable of intercepting all hypersonic targets. While we should view these reports as propaganda, there is uncertainty about the actual number of S-500 systems in Russia. The Russians boast of countering hypersonic missiles with new missiles, but the credibility of these claims is dubious," explained Zgurets.

The military expert highlighted that such actions, including the recent display of renewed Tu-160 production, are attempts to exert propaganda pressure on European partners.

"The narrative is that Russia's defense-industrial complex is making significant strides, producing systems that can outmatch American or European weaponry. However, there's no confirmation that these systems will be widely deployed or are capable of intercepting hypersonic threats. It's primarily a facet of Russia's propaganda war," Zgurets emphasized.
