Russia aims to capture Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, and lost territories – commander Tarnavskyi
The Russian occupation forces' primary aim is to swiftly seize Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, and territories they lost last summer, increasingly involving their armored groups in these assaults
This was reported by Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Tavria group of forces.
Tarnavskyi stated, "The situation in the Tavria operational zone is tense but controlled. The enemy's clear objective is to capture Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, and the previously lost territories at any cost and as soon as possible."
He noted that the enemy is reinforcing assaults with armored groups, but Ukrainian soldiers are resolutely maintaining their defense.
Tarnavskyi highlighted, "The Russian aggressor is actively being eliminated and captured, including our recently engaged forces."
The Russians suffered substantial losses in the "Tavria" anti-aircraft missile defense system's operational area, with 458 personnel and 25 pieces of military equipment, excluding UAVs. The damaged or destroyed equipment includes 9 tanks, 11 armored vehicles, 2 artillery systems, 2 vehicles, and 1 unit of special equipment. Additionally, an ammunition warehouse exploded, and another significant Russian objective was destroyed. A total of 139 UAVs of various types were neutralized or destroyed. Enemy activities yesterday involved 25 air and 2 missile strikes, 57 assaults, and 663 artillery barrages.
- Despite the ongoing assaults, Avdiivka remains the primary target for Russia, with continuous attacks in the southeastern part of the city.
