He noted that he is concerned about the current security situation in the region and drew attention to the fact that the parliament has not yet voted on the Defense Ministry's proposals to prepare the population for defense. "The Romanian population, like the entire European Union, Europe, should be worried, and we must take appropriate measures to be ready," the general said.
The Chief of the Defense Staff is convinced that in order to carry out its duty, the army must change the law, in particular, to be able to shoot down drones or other types of shells and missiles that Russia may launch.
In addition, Romania's military industry does not even now produce NATO-caliber ammunition. In an emergency, the Romanian army's current armament allows it to use only Soviet-style ammunition, while Western allies can only supply NATO-style ammunition.
