Russia's Lavrov accuses Ukraine of drone attack on Putin's residence. Zelenskyy calls it lie
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says that on the night of December 28-29, Ukraine allegedly attacked Vladimir Putin's residence in the Novgorod region with 91 drones
Lavrov's words are quoted by Russian propaganda media.
The Russian Foreign Minister said that air defense forces destroyed all drones that attacked the Kremlin chief's residence.
Lavrov noted that Ukraine allegedly carried out the attack at the time of intensive negotiations between Russia and the United States on war resolution. However, Russia does not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process with the United States on the war in Ukraine amid the attack on the residence.
The Foreign Minister added that Russia has already identified targets for retaliatory strikes and the timing of their delivery.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied Lavrov's words and accused Russia of lying. He linked the emergence of these accusations to successful negotiations in the United States.
"And it is clear that for the Russians, if we don't have a scandal with America, but we have progress, for them it's a failure. Well, they were looking, I'm sure, for reasons in this. Honestly, yesterday I was still expecting some rhetoric," the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, by announcing the attack on the residence, the Russians are preparing the ground for strikes, probably on government buildings in Kyiv.
"We already had this in September, there was a missile strike on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, you remember that. Therefore, everyone needs to be vigilant now, absolutely everyone. A strike on the capital may be launched," the president noted.
