Local authorities in several Russian regions have begun fining residents and journalists for publishing images of Ukrainian drones on social media
Kommersant reported the information.
Fines have already been issued to journalists and social media users in the Kaluga and Tula regions. According to the publication, the number of regions where sharing information about the consequences of drone strikes can lead to liability has reached 12. Last week, Kalmykia and Tver regions joined the list.
In the Kaluga region, 42 protocols have already been sent to court for violations related to the distribution of information about the effects of drone crashes. In two cases, media outlets were the violators, and in five cases, it was local residents.
Additionally, three protocols concern comments made on social media. The rest were issued against administrators or owners of Telegram channels, public pages on VKontakte, and personal accounts.
At the end of May, a resident of the Tula region was fined 25,000 rubles for filming and posting on Telegram a video of a January Ukrainian drone attack on the city of Olekhin.
- In the night between Sunday and Monday, June 9, the Russians reported shooting down 49 drones over seven regions. Among those under attack was a facility in Cheboksary, where the key element of Russian protection against Ukrainian electronic warfare systems – the Kometa antenna – is produced.
