Russian troops remain in Belarus, mostly for military equipment maintenance: Border Guard Service
The State Border Guard Service reports that Russian troops continue to operate in Belarus, primarily focusing on the upkeep of military equipment
Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, shared this information during the telethon.
"The situation along the Belarusian border remains stable and under control. Currently, we do not observe any significant Russian forces that could pose a threat," he stated.
Demchenko noted that Ukrainian intelligence closely monitors the situation in Belarus to promptly address any potential threats. Efforts to bolster border security, including fortifications and surveillance, are ongoing.
"It's important to remember that Russia withdrew its combat units from Belarus previously and hasn't deployed new ones. The remaining Russian presence consists mainly of service personnel responsible for equipment maintenance," explained the spokesperson.
- Recent reports indicate that the Belarusian military has initiated the modernization of Uragan surface-to-air missile systems near the Ukraine-Poland border.
