Russian propagandist sentenced for inciting murder of Ukrainian children
Former Russia Today director Anton Krasovsky has been found guilty by a court of publicly inciting genocide after he called for the killing of Ukrainian children
Ukraine's Office of the Prosecutor General reported the verdict.
Prosecutors confirmed that in 2022, Krasovsky publicly called for the drowning and burning of Ukrainian children during an episode of his show. This episode was broadcast on Russia Today and shared on Krasovsky's YouTube channels and Telegram account, which has several hundred thousand subscribers.
In February 2023, after a public prosecution led by the Prosecutor General's Office, the director of the Russian propaganda TV channel Russia Today was found guilty of publicly calling for genocide and advocating for the forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order (part 2 of Article 442 and part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Considering the severity of the offenses, the court sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
- In addition, Krasovsky was previously found guilty under Part 3 of Article 109 (public calls for the violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power, committed through the use of mass media) and Part 2 of Article 442 (public calls for genocide, as well as the production of materials calling for genocide with the intent to distribute them or the distribution of such materials). He was sentenced in absentia to 5 years in prison.
