Occupying Russian forces to evict Mariupol residents without Russian passports

Mariupol City Council Deputy Dmytro Zabavin has revealed that starting July 1, 2024, the occupiers plan to forcibly remove Mariupol residents from their homes if they do not have Russian passports

Zabavin stated this during an interview on Espreso TV.

"In Mariupol, occupiers are ramping up their efforts to encourage passporting among the populace. They are spreading word that as of July 1 this year, Mariupol residents without Russian passports will face eviction from their apartments. These individuals will be deemed foreign citizens, giving them 90 days to vacate the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine," Zabavin explained.

According to Zabavin, people are being pressured into obtaining Russian passports.

"Previously, occupiers resorted to various tactics to coerce people into obtaining Russian citizenship. This included withholding medicine, humanitarian aid, and social security benefits. Now, they are targeting those who have been most resistant to accepting Russian citizenship. Those who tried to retain their housing without collaborating will now be compelled to either leave or obtain a Russian passport," he added.

• Additionally, on March 21, Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, disclosed that following the pseudo-elections of the President of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the enemy has resumed mass passporting efforts targeting young men aged 14-15. Men who already possess Russian passports are also being registered.
