Russian military aircraft crashes into sea near Sevastopol: pilot ejects

A Russian military aircraft crashed into the sea near Sevastopol, with the pilot ejecting. It's possible that the crash occurred due to activation of a Russian air defense system

Russian-installed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, reported the information.

"A military aircraft crashed into the sea near Sevastopol. Civilian objects were not damaged. The pilot ejected. He was picked up by rescuers at a distance of two hundred meters from the shore. His life is not in danger," the statement said.

Earlier reports from local residents and Telegram channels mentioned a burning aircraft in the area.

"The explosion occurred around 6:00 p.m. local time. After that, videos of the allegedly downed plane and the pilot ejecting began to appear online," Krym. Realii reports.

The VCHK-OGPU Telegram channel suggested that the aircraft could have been shot down by Russian air defense by mistake.

Russian media suggest that the aircraft in question is a Su-27 fighter jet.
