Russian forces unable to land on Dnipro's right bank - OC South
Natalia Humeniuk, Colonel, Head of Joint Press Center for Southern Defense Forces, highlights high-level defense facilities in Kherson region
She spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"In our area of responsibility, I'll be frank, the second line of defense is constructed by the natural landscape in such a way that it was still fortified. Its fortification and presence have always been a concern, especially for the Kherson residents, because in our case, the second line of defense is the right bank of the Dnipro. Ukrainian forces on the left bank have a foothold, constantly engaging with the Russian occupying forces, so the first line of defense is precisely there," explained the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to her, the second line of defense, located on the right bank of the Dnipro, is well-equipped, deep, and thoroughly fortified.
"And the understanding that nature dictates the elevation of the second line of defense above the left bank also includes additional defensive structures. For the enemy to land on the right bank of the Dnipro is practically impossible because the Dnipro River itself is a line of fire, a line of powerful counter-battery work, where constant hits on water transport occur. So, the arrangement of defensive structures in the Kherson region is at a fairly high level and instills fear in people because this defense continues to grow. Russia continues to push its propaganda narratives about returning to Kherson. But reason prevails, and the understanding that we are not only ready to defend ourselves but also protected by nature prevails," emphasized Natalia Humeniuk.
- On February 15, the General Staff's evening report said that in the area of responsibility of the Odesa Joint Forces Operation in the Kherson sector, the Russian forces did not give up their intention to drive Ukrainian units from the footholds on the Dnipro River's left bank.
