Russian drone attack on Ukraine kills civilians, severely damages infrastructure

Aftermath in Kharkiv region

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the sounds of explosions heard in Kharkiv came from the suburbs. However, the threat of strike drones to Kharkiv remains.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, stated that in the village of Vasyshcheve (Kharkiv district, Bezliudivka community), a 51-year-old man, a 43-year-old man, a 59-year-old man, and a 4-year-old girl who suffered an acute stress reaction were injured as a result of an attack.

Additionally, in the settlement of Eskhar (Chuhuiv district, Novopokrovka community), a 63-year-old man, an 80-year-old man, a 63-year-old woman, and a 71-year-old woman were injured due to a Russian drone strike.

The injured received the necessary medical assistance.

Later, the State Emergency Service clarified that as a result of the Russian UAV attack, one person was killed and 7 civilians, including a child, were injured.

More than 10 hits were recorded in the Chuhuiv and Kharkiv districts, targeting the residential sector and a civilian enterprise. Three fires broke out, the largest of which was on the territory of a private enterprise in the village of Vasyщеve. A production workshop and a warehouse with an area of 1580 square meters were on fire there.

In the village of Bezliudivka, hits occurred in open areas, where dry grass caught fire.

In addition, in the village of Eskhar, an enemy UAV hit a residential two-story building, causing a fire.

Kirovohrad region: Russian attack on factory leaves three injured

The Kirovohrad Regional State Administration reported on the aftermath of the night attack on the region.

"One of the industrial enterprises in Svitlovodsk was attacked. The fire has already been contained. Currently, three people are known to be injured. Additionally, 76 private houses and one nine-story residential building were damaged. All relevant services are working on site," the administration informed.

Russian strikes hit rail infrastructure in three regions

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that railway facilities in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Sumy regions were attacked last night and this morning.

In the Kharkiv region, drone debris fell onto the tracks. Railway workers temporarily halted train traffic to allow police and emergency services to neutralize the remains of the Russian drone. Traffic was quickly restored afterward.

In Sloviansk, Donetsk region, the contact network was damaged as a result of fighting, and fragments of an FPV drone damaged the glass in an electric train car. In addition, in the morning, windows in the train station building in Sloviansk, which was under another Russian attack, were damaged. 

In the Sumy region, a Russian drone also damaged railway tracks. Fortunately, the damage was minor, and traffic continues without delays.

There were no casualties or injuries among workers or passengers in any of the incidents.

Air defense triggered in Poltava region

The Poltava Regional State Administration reported that the Poltava region was also under attack during the night.

“Last night, during the air raid alert, residents of Poltava region could hear sounds resembling explosions. Air defense was active in the region. Fortunately, no hits were recorded. There were no casualties either,” the statement said.

  • On the night of Tuesday, May 27, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones. There were casualties in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and houses were damaged in the Sumy region.
