The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak reported the information.

"The Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih. A five-story building was damaged," the statement reads.

Later, the head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, clarified that several residents were injured as a result of a direct hit to the high-rise building. As of 11:30 a.m., the number of injured increased to eight. According to the Regional Military Administration, three of the victims were hospitalized, including women aged 58 and 75.

According to the State Emergency Service, as of 1:40 p.m., 11 people were reported injured in the attack, including two children. A 10-year-old girl received treatment at the scene, while an 11-year-old boy was hospitalized in moderate condition.

Rescue teams saved five people, and psychologists provided assistance to 12 residents.

The explosion destroyed apartments from the first to fifth floors of one section of the high-rise building. Windows in 35 apartment buildings and 11 cars were also damaged.

There may still be people trapped under the rubble.

The explosions in the city occurred around 09:20 a.m. Before that, the Ukrainian Air Force had issued a warning about the threat of ballistic weapon use from Crimea and the missile's movement towards Kryvyi Rih.

Zelenskyy's response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih. He shared this on his Telegram channel.

“Kryvyi Rih. An ordinary five-story building that was hit by a Russian terrorist missile. Apartments from the first to the fifth floors of one of the entrances were destroyed. It is known that seven people were injured, including two children. An emergency rescue operation is underway and every effort is being made to save people. There may still be people under the rubble,” the President said.

Zelenskyy noted that Russia's daily attacks on civilian infrastructure demonstrate its unwillingness to engage in diplomacy.

“Russia wants only to continue the war, and each of its strikes refutes any statements from Russia about diplomacy. Ukraine needs weapons to defend itself against Russian terror and stronger support from the world to have real and strong diplomacy. Without firm decisions and strong support for Ukraine, Russia will have no motive to seek peace and will only look for new targets,” he added.

  • On the same morning, Russian troops attacked the village of Mykilske in the Kherson region. A woman was killed in the attack.
