Russian army shells Kherson and district, killing and wounding civilians

On Saturday, August 24, as a result of shelling by the Russian military of Kherson and the district, two civilians were killed and wounded, including a child born in 2023

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this.

According to the investigation, on 24 August, at around 02:50, the Russian military fired mortar shells at Kherson.

A 62-year-old woman who was at home sustained injuries incompatible with life.

A 63-year-old local resident was also injured in the morning shelling of Antonivka.

In the afternoon, Russian troops attacked Kherson again.

The Kherson Regional State Administration informed that an ambulance had taken to the hospital Kherson residents who had been injured by enemy shelling, in particular, a 61-year-old woman was hit by an enemy drone around 11:00. She sustained an explosive injury and a shrapnel wound to her face.

Russian forces also shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson with artillery. A 66-year-old man was diagnosed with explosive trauma, contusion, a broken shoulder and shrapnel wounds to his abdomen. He is in a serious condition.

The victims are being provided with the necessary medical care.

According to Roman Mrochko, the head of the Kherson Military Administration, a child, a boy born in 2023, was injured as a result of shelling of the Dniprovskyi district by Russian occupation forces and is currently hospitalized. He has a mine-blast trauma and an arm injury. His condition is of moderate severity.

Mrochko noted that another wounded man, a 58-year-old man, is in serious condition and has been taken to hospital. The victim sustained mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to the abdomen and face. The enemy shell hit the house, the official added.

It was also reported that a man sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the shelling of Dniprovskyi district of the city. 

Later, Mrochko said that the Russian occupation army struck at the Korabelnyi district of Kherson. As a result of the attack, a man born in 1947 sustained a mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wound. The victim was in his yard at the time of the Russian shelling.

  • On the afternoon of August 23, the Russian occupation army shelled Toretsk with artillery and attacked Kurakhove, Donetsk region, with an air bomb.
