
Russia launches drone attack on Ukraine, injuring civilians in Kharkiv, Odesa
On the evening of Monday, April 21, the Russian occupying forces launched strike drones at Ukrainian territory, with the attack continuing into the day on April 22

Civilian infrastructure damaged in Odesa
Around 10:00 p.m. on April 21, Russian drones were detected heading toward Odesa. Minutes later, the city's mayor, Hennadii Trukhanov, reported hearing explosions.
At 10:26 p.m., the mayor confirmed further explosions. The Air Force also warned of drones approaching Odesa from the Black Sea. Ten minutes later, another series of explosions was heard in the city, according to Suspilne.
At 12:40 a.m., Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that Odesa had come under a massive drone attack. "Civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, an educational institution, and vehicles were damaged. Fires broke out. All relevant emergency services are working to eliminate the consequences of the Russian attacks. Information about the injured is being clarified," the statement said.
At 1:02 a.m., Mayor Trukhanov confirmed that residential buildings in a densely populated area of the city had been struck, damaging many apartments.
Shortly afterward, the head of the regional administration reported that, as of 1:19 a.m., three people were known to be injured and were receiving medical assistance.
Air defense activity in Kyiv region
At 01:01 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that Russian drones had been detected in the region, and air defense systems were active.
In the morning, the administration provided an update on the consequences of the night attack. The report confirmed that several Russian drones were shot down in the region. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties, and critical infrastructure was not affected.
“In the Bucha district, six private houses, four cars, three utility buildings, and three garages were damaged as a result of the attack. A fire also broke out at a construction site and was extinguished. A suburban complex was damaged as well. All emergency services continue to document and eliminate the consequences of the Russian attack,” the statement said.
Massive drone attack on Kharkiv
Around 1:00 p.m., the mayor of Kharkiv reported a strike by a Shahed drone, followed by another strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Soon after, another wave of explosions rocked the city.
As a result of the massive Russian attack, one person was initially reported injured, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov. At 1:24 p.m., another explosion occurred, followed by two more strikes five minutes later. Additional explosions followed.
Preliminary estimates indicated that Kharkiv suffered 12 strikes, with fires breaking out at some impact sites. The number of injured rose to three.
At around 1:40 p.m., the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that a strike hit the road surface in the Kyivskyi district, setting a car on fire. Initial data suggested that three people were injured.
At 2:02 p.m. on April 22, Oleh Syniehubov reported that the number of casualties had risen to seven. He confirmed that Kharkiv was under a massive Russian attack, with the occupiers hitting four districts of the city with Shahed drones: Shevchenkivskyi, Saltivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Novobavarskyi.
