Speaking on the Espreso TV, Petrenko explained that Russia’s main goal in the Vremivka direction is to sever communication lines, especially those leading to Ukrainian forces in the Kurakhove direction.
He added that after Ukraine retook Novyi Komar from Russian troops, the intensity of fighting decreased temporarily, as Russian reserves were brought in to try to regain momentum. However, despite losses, the Russians continue their assault, focusing on Velyka Novosilka and its surrounding areas to cut off communication channels to garrisons there.
- On Monday, December 16, Russian occupation forces captured Hannivka in the Donetsk region and made advances in the Kursk region of Russia.
