Russia strikes Zaporizhzhia rescue workers twice, injuring four
On the morning of June 2, Russian forces struck a fire and rescue station in one of the front-line settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region, injuring four emergency service workers
The State Emergency Service (SES) and the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that Russian forces used FPV drones to target the fire station building in the Stepnohirsk community, as well as official emergency vehicles traveling on the road.
The direct hits caused significant damage to the station building and fire trucks. Although the personnel were sheltering at the time, four rescuers were injured, and another eight are undergoing medical examinations and receiving both medical and psychological support.
The four injured SES workers have been hospitalized. One of them, a 48-year-old rescuer, is in critical condition. Three others — aged 49, 38, and 50 — are in moderate condition and receiving necessary treatment.
During the evacuation of the wounded to a stabilization point, Russian forces launched a second attack. Two fire trucks evacuating the injured and the rest of the unit came under fire again.
- The fighting in Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions remains on a smaller scale compared to Russian operations in Donetsk. As a result, the heaviest battles this summer are expected to unfold in the Donetsk region.
