Russia shells Sudzha gas station, blames Ukrainian military — Ukraine’s General Staff
Russia baselessly accused Ukraine’s Defense Forces of shelling the Sudzha gas metering station
The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported the information.
“The Russian Federation is stepping up its discrediting campaign against Ukraine. For instance, the Russians accused the Ukrainian Defense Forces of shelling the Sudzha gas metering station. These accusations are groundless,” the General Staff emphasized.
The military added that the Russians had repeatedly shelled the station themselves. In particular, they bombed it with guided aerial bombs last summer, and three days ago they hit it again with anti-aircraft missiles.
“Already today, the Russians have strengthened their planned destructive information influence with another provocation - they fired at this facility with artillery,” the Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces also reminded that earlier Russian troops had used a gas pipeline to covertly move their units.
“Russians continue to produce numerous fakes and seek to mislead the international community. We ask you to trust only official sources, verify information and not succumb to manipulations,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces added.
Context. On the night of March 21, Z-channels reported that Ukraine had attacked the Sudzha gas metering station and a gas pipeline on the border of Kursk and Sumy regions, which used to transport Russian gas to Europe. The fire was visible from tens of kilometers away: in Kursk and even on the outskirts of Sumy. There were no official reports of this fire on Russian propaganda news agencies, in the social networks of local leaders, or on specialized websites.
Russia's Defense Ministry accuses Ukraine
The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed that Ukrainian forces allegedly blew up the Sudzha gas metering station on purpose.
"This energy infrastructure facility, through which more than 40 million cubic meters of gas per day were previously pumped to European consumer countries, has been under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since August 7, 2024," the statement says.
The Ministry of Defense called it "a deliberate provocation by the Kyiv regime, which should be viewed in the context of recent attacks on the energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation aimed at discrediting the peace initiatives of the U.S. President."
