'Over 1,300 kilometers behind enemy lines': Ukrainian drones strike Kupol plant in Russia’s Izhevsk

Drones struck the Kupol plant in Izhevsk, which produces Tor and Osa air defense systems, as well as Harpy drones for the Russian army.

“The distance to the target was over 1,300 kilometers. At least two SBU drone strikes on the plant’s buildings were recorded, after which a fire broke out,” the sources said.

The plant is under international sanctions as part of Russia’s military-industrial complex.

Initially, Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed that air defenses allegedly destroyed and intercepted 60 drones.

  • 11 UAVs - over the waters of the Azov Sea,
  • 5 UAVs - over the territory of Kursk region,
  • 4 UAVs - over the territory of Saratov region,
  • 3 UAVs - over the waters of the Black Sea,
  • 2 UAVs - over the territory of Belgorod region,
  • One UAV was destroyed over the territories of the Voronezh and Oryol regions.

In turn, Rosaviatsia announced temporary restrictions on the operation of Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Kazan, and Nizhnekamsk airports.

The head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, said that one of the industrial facilities in Izhevsk was attacked by drones.

"All operational services have arrived at the scene. I will provide additional information as it becomes available," he said.

Meanwhile, the Federal Air Transport Agency has imposed restrictions on the operation of Izhevsk airport.

Around 10 a.m., the restrictions on Russian airports were lifted, RIA Novosti reports.
