Russia pushes fake news to undermine Ukraine’s ties with Azerbaijan and Armenia – HUR

This was reported by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).

According to HUR, disinformation sources, especially in Armenian Telegram channels,  claim that a renewed Azerbaijani-Armenian war would force Russia to open a “second front,” weakening its military focus and benefiting Ukraine.

The fake narrative is based on a fabricated document supposedly from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, addressed to Deputy Minister Ivan Havrylyuk.

Intelligence officials pointed out multiple glaring errors in the document, including writing the name Ivan with a Ukrainian letter “Ї” and using “SDR” instead of EDRPOU. It also fails to meet Ukraine’s official document formatting standards.

“This information operation aims to discredit Ukraine and damage its relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan, serving the interests of the aggressor state — Russia,” HUR emphasized.

• Recently, Russian forces have also spread disinformation claiming Ukraine is planning terrorist attacks in Europe to “disrupt peace talks.” This campaign is reportedly overseen by one of Putin’s key operatives, Sergei Naryshkin.
