Russia proposes air truce with Ukraine, limiting strikes to within 500 km of frontline — expert
Russia is proposing to introduce an air truce with Ukraine, which would ban strikes on targets more than 500 km away from the current front line
Viktor Taran, head of the Kruk UAV Operators Training Center, said this on Espreso TV.
"Our long-range weapons destroy not only the targets that Russia uses for war and which are located deep inside Russian territory. Our drones also effectively destroy Russian logistics hubs and railway chains, making it impossible to transfer ammunition, fuel, and equipment to the front line. This significantly affects Russia's ability to conduct combat operations," Taran said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces major noted that if the terms of the aerial ceasefire help protect Ukraine’s infrastructure from Russian attacks, it would make sense.
“From what I’ve heard, the Russian dictator Putin proposes banning strikes on targets located more than 500 km from the frontline in the context of an aerial ceasefire. Everything within 500 km of the current line of combat would not be subject to such restrictions. So, in this situation, I don’t know if it’s reasonable or correct for us to agree to these conditions. Because if we talk about a ceasefire, it should be a general and total ceasefire. If it’s total and we can also protect our infrastructure, then it would make sense. But if it’s a sectoral aerial ceasefire, then there is no point at all,” he concluded.
