According to Zabavin, the Russian occupiers plan to construct and put into operation 147,000 m² of mortgage housing in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk region. "If we divide this by the average square meters of an apartment, and then further by the average size of a building, it turns out to be approximately 28 buildings. They announce this on such a grand scale, but if we make a comparative analysis, considering that occupiers in Mariupol have damaged and destroyed over 2,000 multi-story buildings, this constitutes only 1.5 percent,” explains the deputy.
There is also information that the invaders in the very center of Mariupol have begun demolishing the House of Communications, which they destroyed in March 2022. Residential apartments will likely be built there for sale.
"A mortgage will be offered for this housing, so it's all about the Russian occupiers' earnings in the temporarily occupied territory. That is, people who lived there will not get housing, usually, they get housing on the outskirts of the city, where they (Russians) build literally barracks: three-story houses, imagine, that are not connected to the central sewerage system - these are really barracks in which even the doors do not close after installationі," explains Zabavin.
He also says that the quality of the so-called housing is poor because the occupiers do not comply with building codes. Therefore, after the de-occupation of the territory, it will be necessary to demolish all of these buildings because it is dangerous to live there.
"And the same thing that the occupiers sell there for $1,000-1,200 per square meter as a so-called mortgage - there is also a complete lack of compliance with the standards," said the deputy.
The main buyers of these low-quality square meters are Russian citizens who are brought in to work. "What is their goal? The first goal is to make money, and the second goal is to bind those guest workers, their obedient slaves, whom they brought from various remote parts of their terrorist country to Mariupol to replace the local population and at least equalize it. How can you tie a person down? By giving them a loan for 20-30 years, and they will pay this mortgage and live in the temporarily occupied territory," Zabavin summarized.
