Russia lost valuable asset after Portnov’s liquidation in Madrid
Andriy Portnov, a key figure destabilizing Ukraine and aiding Russia, was likely liquidated in Madrid, dealing a blow to Russian covert operations
This was stated by military expert and former SBU officer (2004-2015) Ivan Stupak during an interview on Espreso.
"With 99% probability, it was indeed Portnov, and he was liquidated.
He was a notorious figure who did a lot of harm to Ukraine and helped Russia. In the first weeks of the full-scale invasion, a number of judges who were in Ukraine, in Kyiv, already had a draft court ruling.
They planned, in case Kyiv was captured by Russia, to cancel all decisions made after February 2014. That is, to reinstate Yanukovych and annul all changes made after his flight. And these people cooperated with Portnov," Stupak noted.
According to him, many representatives of the Ukrainian judiciary and law enforcement continued to orient themselves towards Portnov. They passed him confidential information related to their official duties. Now there is simply no one to pass such information to.
"Thus, Russia really lost a quite valuable asset that will no longer work for it. Especially since Portnov initiated various lawsuits and legal processes against Ukraine and certain officials. That is, he destabilized the situation in Ukraine from the outside—and now he will no longer do so," Stupak emphasized.
- On May 21, former advisor to Ukraine’s fourth president Viktor Yanukovych, Andriy Portnov, was shot dead in Madrid, Spain.
