Russia launches assaults on Chasiv Yar from Toretsk direction - Khortytsia troop grouping
Russia's army has begun storming Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region from the Toretsk direction. At the same time, it is trying to put pressure on the villages of Shumy and New York from Horlivka
Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia troop grouping, told Interfax-Ukraine.
"Over the past week, enemy attacks have been taking place constantly. There are also mechanised assaults in the forehead of Chasiv Yar, and small groups of up to five people are trying to break into the Novyi and Kanal neighbourhoods. For several days now, the enemy has been attacking Chasiv Yar from a different direction, from Toretske. The invaders are pushing from Horlivka to Shumy and New York," he said.
According to Voloshyn, the Russian forces are using unguided aerial missiles and are trying to carry out assault operations with the support of aviation.
"Units of the Defence Forces are successfully restraining the onslaught, strengthening their positions in certain areas," the spokesman stressed.
Voloshyn added that Russian units of the 10650th Artillery Regiment of the Airborne Troops (98th Airborne Division of the Russian Federation), the 58th Special Forces Battalion (1st Corps of the DPR Army) and the Sever-V Brigade (a reserve unit of the DPR) are involved in the battle for Chasiv Yar.
- On June 18, the editor-in-chief of Suspilne.Donbas, Andriy Kramchenkov, reported that Russian troops were not easing pressure near Chasiv Yar and were intensifying hostilities in the Kurakhove area.
