Russia amasses reserves, activation is large-scale: Azov officer on situation in eastern Ukraine
Illia 'Gandalf' Samoilenko, an officer with the 12th Azov Brigade, has spoken about the concentration of Russian forces in eastern Ukraine
He announced this on the Espreso TV channel.
"If we talk about the Lyman direction, it's been steadily intense here for quite a while. The enemy's force concentration is significant. We've noticed the enemy mobilizing reserves in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. There's a considerable activation on the Russian side," he noted.
Despite no active advance, the concentration of forces is significant, says Samoilenko.
"Russia keeps using precision weapons, guided bombs, and heavy artillery, including 203 mm and 240 mm calibers. There's no active enemy advance in our area because their attempts to break through our defense lines are intercepted. We aim to hit the enemy before they can form a battle order, but the force concentration is substantial," he added.
- On June 18, in the Lyman direction, Russia attempted 13 times to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from positions in Hrekivka, Makiivka, and Terny. Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 of these attacks.
