Russia claims it shot down 86 drones, explosions reportedly heard in Moscow region
On the night of July 9, residents reported explosions in the Moscow region. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had allegedly repelled the attack and shot down 86 drones

This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to them, Russian air defense allegedly intercepted and destroyed 86 drones overnight:
- 23 UAVs over Kursk region
- 16 UAVs over Bryansk region
- 15 UAVs over Tula region
- 12 UAVs over Belgorod region
- 12 UAVs over Oryol region
- 4 UAVs over the Moscow region, including 2 flying toward Moscow
- 2 UAVs over Smolensk region
- 1 UAV over Voronezh region
- 1 UAV over Ryazan region
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also confirmed reports about drones allegedly shot down while heading toward the Russian capital.
- On the night of July 9, Russia launched a record number of drones and missiles at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenders shot down 718 Russian targets.
