Russia captures 133 sq. km of Ukrainian land in March, reports DeepState
The overall effectiveness of Russian offensive actions continues to decrease: the pace of occupation in March 2025 can be compared to April-June 2024
This was reported by the DeepState OSINT project.
In March 2025, Russian forces captured 133 sq. km of Ukrainian territory. This can be compared to the pace of occupation in April and June 2024.
However, the overall effectiveness of Russian offensive operations continues to decline. Compared to November 2024, the loss of territory per month has decreased nearly sixfold. However, this does not mean that the enemy is ready for a pause or a ceasefire.
The occupying Russian forces have intensified attacks on several fronts. The situation has become especially tense in the Pokrovsk direction – in the second half of March, the intensity of the fighting sharply increased, reaching the level of late 2024, when Ukrainian defense south of Pokrovsk was under significant pressure.
Despite fatigue and numerous challenges, Ukraine's defense forces continue to hold back the enemy and minimize its tactical successes. The Russian army is facing problems as well: more and more soldiers, who undergo only 3-4 days of minimal combat training, are being captured.
As DeepState analysts note, the status of the Russian military grouping in the Kursk region remains unclear. This grouping could be redeployed to one of the key directions or split between several areas of the front, which creates new challenges for Ukrainian defense.
- On March 31, DeepState reported that over the past day, the Russian occupying army advanced near several settlements in the Donetsk region.
