Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones: explosions in multiple regions

On the evening of August 5, a series of explosions occurred in Kyiv during an air raid alert, prompting the activation of air defense systems. On the night of August 6, explosions were also reported in Kharkiv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions

Explosions heard in Kyiv city and region, Ukraine's air Defense shoots down Russian targets

This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

The Kyiv region was attacked by missiles and attack drones. Air defense forces were deployed to intercept the threats, successfully shooting down Russian targets and preventing hits to residential and critical infrastructure. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

As of 8:00 a.m., the following damage was recorded

  • an apartment building - windows on the first and second floor, where non-residential premises are located, were smashed;
  • two gas stations - windows were smashed and facades were damaged;
  • a multi-storey building with office premises - doors and windows were smashed, the facade was damaged.

In addition, the blast wave damaged a forester's house. There are no fires at the sites where the wreckage fell. Operational services and teams are eliminating the consequences of the attack and working at the sites where the wreckage of the downed Russian targets fell.

Timeline of the attack on Kyiv region

The explosions in Kyiv occurred around 11:07 p.m., according to Espreso.

At 11:05 p.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Telegram about a group of Shahed drones in the Chernihiv region, and at 11:07 p.m. about high-speed targets in Kyiv and Poltava regions.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko posted on Telegram about the work of air defense.

At 11:46 p.m., the Air Force reported a group of Shaheds on the border of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, moving in the direction of Kyiv.

At 11:49 p.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration reported on Telegram that Russia had launched a ballistic missile attack.

"At about 11:00 p.m., the enemy launched a missile attack in the direction of Kyiv and the suburbs. According to preliminary information, the aggressor used ballistic weapons such as Iskander-M or KN-23. Air defense forces and means were deployed in the capital and on the outskirts of the city. According to preliminary data, enemy missiles were hit," the statement said.

As of 11:49 p.m., no damage was reported in Kyiv, and no casualties were reported.

At 11:55 p.m., Vitali Klitschko said that air defense in Kyiv region was working against Russian drones.

At 12:33 a.m., the Kyiv City State Administration reported the all-clear signal in Kyiv, and at 1:06 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that the all-clear signal in the region. 

Explosions in Kharkiv city and Kharkiv region

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported explosions in the city. 

"We heard the sounds of explosions in the city. It looks like a hit. Be careful in any case," he wrote at 12:35 a.m. 

At 12:49 a.m., Suspilne reported a series of explosions in Kharkiv. At 01:03 a.m., explosions were heard again. 

The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that at 12:50 a.m. Russian troops attacked Tsyrkuny settlement in the Kharkiv district. The Russian attack damaged a residential building and caused a fire. There is currently no information about the victims. 

At 01:26 a.m., Suspilne Kharkiv reported another explosion in the city. 

Explosions in Khmelnytskyi region and Sumy

At 01:57 a.m., Suspilne Khmelnytskyi reported explosions in the Khmelnytskyi region.

In the morning, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration reported that at night, while repelling a Russian air attack, air defense forces shot down 3 Shahed UAVs over the region. There was no information on damage to critical infrastructure or civilian casualties.

At 04:22 a.m., Suspilne reported a series of explosions in Sumy. At 05:05 a.m., the explosions were heard again.
