
Russia attacks Ukraine overnight, killing and injuring people in Nizhyn, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk
On the evening of Saturday, June 21, Russian forces launched drone strikes across Ukraine. Overnight, they also carried out airstrikes in Donetsk region. Civilian casualties have been reported

Drone attack on Nizhyn
Mayor Oleksandr Kodola said Russian Shahed drones struck Nizhyn. Ten explosions were recorded near the city and one more in a nearby settlement.
“The damage is still being assessed. We strongly urge everyone to stay in safe places and follow official updates,” he said.
At 8:52 p.m. on June 21, Head of Chernihiv Regional Administration Vyacheslav Chaus reported that a man was killed in the Nizhyn district. Homes, an outbuilding, and a garage were damaged or destroyed.
“The aggressor always strikes sneakily. Once again, they hit people’s homes. Today’s strike claimed another life,” he wrote.
Airstrikes on Donetsk region
Russian aircraft attacked Kramatorsk and Sloviansk overnight.
In Kramatorsk, a residential building and an industrial area were hit. A four-story building was partially destroyed. One person is confirmed injured, and others may be trapped under the rubble. Rescue work continues.
In Sloviansk, a private house was destroyed. A 17-year-old boy was killed. Three others were injured. Damage was reported to 32 private houses, 2 administrative buildings, 4 apartment blocks, a production site, and 3 cars.
In total, over 40 sites were damaged in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk as a result of the attack.
Attack on Sumy region
Sumy regional military head Oleh Hryhorov said that around 5:30 p.m. on June 21, Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure in the Kovpakivskyi district of Sumy.
“Preliminarily, it was a Lancet drone strike. An enterprise building was damaged,” he wrote.
No casualties were reported. A fire broke out, and emergency services are working at the scene.
At 6:58 p.m., Hryhorov reported a second strike on Sumy.
“This time the hit was in a residential area. So far, no casualties. Damage is still being assessed,” he said.
“The enemy drone struck the roof of a multi-story building. Early reports say no one was hurt,” said acting Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar.
At 11:47 p.m., Hryhorov reported another strike on the outskirts of the city, in the Zarichnyi district.
“Private houses were damaged in the attack. The area is being inspected, and emergency services are on site,” he wrote.
Russian attack on Odesa region
According to the State Emergency Service, Russian forces attacked southern Odesa region overnight. Fires broke out where the strikes hit. Buildings at an ambulance station, a garage with a car, and a nearby house caught fire.
No casualties were reported.
