Russia advances in 9 directions: Ukraine's General Staff lists most intense front areas

Since the start of August 19, there have been 78 combat engagements at the frontline. Russian forces continue to attack in the Pokrovsk direction

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russia launched four unsuccessful attacks near Lyptsi and Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk sector, there were eight firefights. The Russian army attempted to advance towards Torske, Hlushkivka, Makiivka, Stelmakhivka, and Kruhliakivka. Currently, half of these attacks are still ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, the occupying Russian army stormed Ukrainian positions nine times, with Russia being most active from the direction of Ploshchanka.

In the Siversk sector, there were six firefights throughout the day. Russian forces advanced near Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, and Ivan-Daryivka, with three more battles currently underway.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russia launched two attacks near Ivanivske and Andriivka. Fighting is still ongoing near Andriivka.

In the Toretsk sector, the Russian army increased its attacks to nine, targeting New York, Toretsk, Zalizne, and Nelipivka. Seven of these battles have concluded, and two are still ongoing.

Additionally, Russian troops conducted six air strikes and dropped nine guided aerial bombs on Shcherbynivka, Nelipivka, and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces attacked the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Novohrodivka, Zelene Pole, Kalynove, Mykolaivka, Ptyche, Mykhailivka, Kamyshivka, and Myroliubivka. Ukrainian forces are holding back the Russian advance, having repelled 24 attacks, with five clashes still ongoing. Russia’s losses in this area are currently being assessed.

The occupying army also conducted three air strikes with unguided aerial missiles on Oleksandropil.

In the Kurakhove sector, Russian forces made five unsuccessful attacks near Nevelske and Kostiantynivka.

In the Vremivka sector, Russia used aircraft to launch three attacks with unguided aerial missiles near Makarivka. Additionally, Russian forces conducted three assault operations, attempting to advance from Volodymyrivka and Solodke, and also attacked the area around Vodiane.

In the Prydniprovskyi and Orikhiv sector, the Russian army has not launched any offensive or assault operations so far. Instead, Russia carried out air strikes using about sixty unguided aerial missiles targeting Piatykhatky, Huliaipole, and Olhivka. They also dropped three bombs on Novodanylivka and Temyrivka.

“The border areas of the Sumy region are enduring cynical air strikes from Russian airspace,” the report states.

On August 19, air strikes targeted the areas of Khotin and Obukhivka. Additionally, Russian forces conducted an air strike with unguided missiles on Porozok. Lyptsi in the Kharkiv region was also hit by enemy aircraft.

  • As of Monday, August 19, Russian losses in Ukraine reached 600,000. The Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated 1,120 Russian troops in the last 24 hours.
