Putin’s 'carpet bombing' campaign aims to create humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine
Russia expects that Ukraine’s civilian population will display significant aggression or excessive pressure for quick agreements on the enemy’s terms
Ivan Tymochko, the head of the Reservists' Council of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, stated this on Espreso TV channel.
"It is necessary to take into account the situation with enemy attacks on rear cities, as 'carpet bombings,' according to Putin's plan, are aimed at creating a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine. The goal is to instill a constant sense of danger in Ukrainian society, provoke internal migration, and ultimately force people to pressure Ukraine's military-political leadership into making concessions to Russia in line with its stated demands, such as territorial claims, demilitarization, and so on," he noted.
Although this idea is understandable, at this stage, Ukrainian society is countering this propaganda quite effectively, despite the many challenges. But it is worth considering and understanding that Putin's main task now, which he is setting for his troops, is to create a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine through strikes on civilian objects, the serviceman noted.
“They failed to create man-made disasters, even when they attacked infrastructure or life support systems. They also failed to achieve a political catastrophe in the form of an internal social conflict, although we remember attempts to rock Ukrainian society. And the troops are holding the front,” added Tymochko.
- On the afternoon of March 24, the Russian army struck the city center of Sumy, injuring 99 people, including 23 children.
