"People don't need convincing anymore": Volunteer on evacuations from Kurakhove
Volunteer Vlad Makhovskyi emphasized that many are fleeing the Kurakhove community, driven by fear, constant shelling, and death
He shared this during an interview on Espreso TV.
"I’m evacuating people from Hirnyk and Kurakhove. Right now, the hottest zones are in the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions. Recently, airstrikes hit Ukrainsk, killing 12 people. There have been casualties in Hirnyk as well, and Kurakhove has also been targeted. Russian forces are shelling populated areas with barrel artillery and Uragans. Civilians are caught in the crossfire and are dying," Makhovskyi stated.
According to the volunteer, more and more people are desperate to leave, terrified by the relentless bombardments and the rising death toll. The number of people looking to evacuate hasn’t been this high in a long time.
"People tell me the shelling is terrifying here. I’m getting calls for help every day — there are so many now. No one needs convincing anymore. Every trip is a risk. Enemy FPV drones are always in the sky, and many volunteers have already been caught under fire," Makhovskyi added.
- As of September 6, 24,500 Ukrainians remain in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, including 929 children. The total population of the community is around 35,000.
