This was stated by Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder.
“As it relates to our long range strike policy (on targets in Russia - ed.), I don't have any announcements to make in terms of any change in policy,” he said, responding to a question about whether the recent Russian missile strike on Poltava has influenced the American leadership's decision to provide Ukraine with the capability to strike deep within Russia.
At the same time, Ryder assured that the United States would continue to provide Ukraine with air defense capabilities, along with international allies and partners.
- On Tuesday, September 3, the Russian army attacked an educational institution in Poltava with two ballistic missiles. The attack killed 51 people and injured 271.
- The United States is close to an agreement to provide Ukraine with longer-range missiles to strike deep into Russia. The decision may be announced as early as this fall, Reuters reports, citing U.S. officials.
