Over 500 people evacuated from Pokrovsk monthly, with 4,000 children moved
Each month, over 500 people are evacuated from Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. Half of the city's children, totaling 4,000, have already been moved
Serhii Dobriak, the head of the Pokrovsk City Military Administration, shared this information with Radio Liberty.
He mentioned that 60,000 people remain in Pokrovsk, including 4,000 children. Dobriak explained that more than 500 residents are evacuated from the city every month, and 4,000 children have been moved to safety. He also noted that an evacuation train leaves the city every 8 days.
“People from Toretsk are arriving at our evacuation hub due to the severe situation there. It’s not just about catching the train. If someone arrives and the train isn’t due for five or six days, we have a shelter where they can stay, get cleaned up, and receive three hot meals a day. They are then moved to the Volyn and Rivne regions, which are hosting areas. This is organized by the government and the Donetsk Regional State Administration,” he said.
Dobriak also emphasized that the local military administration is focused on setting up defense structures in the Pokrovsk area, as directed by the army leadership.
“Today, the city is 20 kilometers from the front line. We are carrying out the tasks - specifically, the construction of fortifications - assigned by the army leadership, no more and no less. I do not have the authority or complete information regarding the fortifications. My information is limited to the city itself or its immediate area,” said the head of the city administration.
