Over 11,000 internally displaced people from eastern, southern Ukraine settle in Bucha
On the second anniversary of the Kyiv region's liberation from Russian occupation, Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk stated that over 11,000 internally displaced persons (IDP) have settled in the city in the ensuing two years
He shared the information on the United News telethon.
According to him, 509 civilians, including 12 children, were killed during the over 30 days that Russian soldiers were in the city
After the de-occupation, in addition to the returning residents of Bucha, the city received internally displaced persons from the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.
"I am extremely pleased to say that the townspeople, no matter where they are in the world, have returned, and for many of them, more than 11,000 residents, Bucha has become a second home - these are internally displaced persons from eastern and southern Ukraine. So the community is large, the community actually needs development, but we will endure for the sake of our common victory," Fedoruk said.
He also noted that the city has been actively involved in the cleanup of the destruction left by the occupying Russian forces.
"Today, of course, in two years after the de-occupation, thanks to our Armed Forces of Ukraine, we have recovered, restored almost everything that could be restored, that was subject to restoration. Of course, there are houses, apartment buildings, social facilities that are under construction because they had to be rebuilt from scratch," said the mayor of Bucha.
