Russian strikes push Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, toward humanitarian catastrophe
As a result of Russian shelling, the city of Kostyantynivka in Ukraine’s Donetsk region is facing severe disruptions to water, gas, and electricity supplies — pushing it to the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe
Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that Russian attacks cut power to nearly half the city. In the Santurynivka neighborhood, nearly 2,000 homes lost access to gas, and authorities currently cannot restore the supply.
Residents will receive water only once a day, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., covering just 20–25% of basic needs. Drone strikes also forced officials to suspend city bus service and limit the suburban route to Druzhkivka.
Authorities installed seven large water tanks, eleven containers, and twelve wells — six of them equipped with water filtration. Five “Points of Invincibility” now support residents, and two more stand ready if needed.
Filashkin stressed that medical workers, utility crews, police, and local authorities continue to operate despite constant attacks. He urged residents to evacuate while it remains possible, warning that Russian forces are deliberately targeting vital infrastructure.
